Gongkwon Yusul Instructors seminar: Melbourne Nov 2009
On the last weekend of October 2009 Gongkwon members from throughout Australia converged on Melbourne for 2 days of intensive Gongkwon Yusul training.
Saturday covered drills and techniques associated with the colored belt syllabus with participants further challenged by having to rapidly adjust to the unusually warm Melbourne weather on that day, with Gold Coast instructor, Joel, finding the temperature much more to his liking than most other participants. Michael from Melbourne even took time out from his birthday celebrations to participate on the Saturday.
Sunday covered techniques and drills related to the 1st and 2nd Dan level of GKYS.
The afternoon session also included some intense contact sparring, both as standard GKYS sparring also, "special" sparring using head guards.
The Sunday finished with the Australian introduction of the use of Yeomtasul (short stick) techniques and how these are integrated in the striking, locking and grappling skills of Gongkwon Yusul.
Thanks to all those who made the trip and a special mention to the strong contingent of colored belt students from the Hobart club.
